Mt Eden Prison

Over the past few years Mt Eden prison has undergone a major upgrade. The design reflects modern prison accommodation standards with the intention of bringing the prison into the 21st century. This involved incorporating energy-efficient materials, fittings and systems to meet NZ Standards and a guaranteed life span of at least 50-100 years to concur with government policy. Louvre systems were required extensively throughout the building for mechanical ventilation and rain defence. Colt Products and Systems were chosen for their performance tested louvre systems that are classified in accordance with the New Zealand Standard AS/NZS 4740:2000. For maximum rain defence the 3UL/DH triple bank louvre was installed. Colts 3UL is one of the highest performing louvre systems available, providing the best combination of architectural, aerodynamic and rain defence properties of any louvre on the market.
